Rescued from the Garage

I found this small oil painting I had done years ago at a painting workshop from art school.
I clearly remember the day I painted it. During the 3 hour figure painting workshop, half way through, I hated what I had. At the long break, I was so disappointed in myself, I took a walk to a local gallery and was introduce to paintings by Ann Gale. OMG! I was so inspired afterwards I ran back to the workshop, tossed aside the other painting, and in the remaining 1hr this came out.
I've never had quite the painting experience since, so this head study is special for that reason.

Art for Fundraising Event

A little watercolor painting I did for a friend and colleague who needs to raise money to save a high school's art program. I'm still not comfortable with watercolor, but it was a good cause to contribute to and find time to practice.

Drawing from FIlm

I am posting again! We'll see how long I can keep this up.

I was going through an old sketchbook from years back when I took a film appreciation workshop.
The great part of having an instructor control the screenshot, is you don't know how long you have to quickly jot something down. These two pages from the sketchbook were from The Shining and City of God.
I'm starting to do this more again. There is so much to learn from studying great film stills.
